  • Breast cancer has become the most common cancer affecting women in Hong Kong since 1994
  • Female breast cancer cases diagnosed in Hong Kong has increased by 3.8 times from 1,152 in 1993 to 4,373 in 2017. On average, about 12 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.
  • The median age of breast cancer patients was 57 in Hong Kong, compared with the age of 62 in the United States, 60 in Australia.
  • Lifetime breast cancer risk for females is 1 in every 15. In 2017, 51% of the women diagnosed with breast cancer were aged 40-59. The older the age, the greater the risk.
  • Young people are not immune from the disease. The youngest case reported was below 20 years old.
